We're working with homeowners in Santa Clara who are looking add space to their property for family. Especially with the challenging circumstances of COVID, the family would like to have their parents and in-laws cared for in an ADU instead of a nursing facility. The size of the ADU is dictated by a beloved Japanese Maple tree and tight backyard dimensions. Meanwhile, the ADU needed to have a separate bedroom and preparation for "ADA-aware" features such as blocking for grab bars and a roll-in shower.
We're thrilled to have landed on a floor plan that will be comfortable for the older relatives in a small footprint while adding some design features that bring the ADU to life. Sun tunnels in the bathroom and a large skylight in the living area will pull in plenty of light for the small unit. Barn doors and pocket doors are a fun touch to create a quaint cottage feel. That feel is mirrored by a small deck/patio in front of the ADU that will be a place for a rocking chair and many quiet evenings.
We're excited that the estimate for this ADU came out to an attractive price for a very unique project!
